In my era, the city had changed our street name. We were at 2034 Thousand Oaks Boulevard.

The others who mentored me there were Dick McGraw and Charles Bennett--Uncle Ben. I named my son for these two men.

Re: The chairs--Michael Thonet, a German-Austrian, gets credit for inventing bent-wood furniture by 1849. His ordinary kitchen chairs were perfect for cat trainers. Mine were conveniently found in North America's gin joints. Beatty wrote that he was not the first to use a chair, but when Hemingway compared it to the bullfighter's cape, the chair became his trademark.
