On the old one-night stand shows, we toured North America and saw the countryside, while the towns themselves remained little more to us than names on a route card.
My late Jungleland pal, Chuck Hayes, was a Sells & Gray and King Bros. veteran whose only true home was wherever a mud show set up the tents. He loved to tell of the people who'd ask him where the circus played yesterday. Hell, he'd say, I don't know. OK, well, what town do you play tomorrow? Hell, he said, beats me--and by the way, what's the name of this town?

On my 4th visit (out of 7)
to Australia in the 90s my
wife & I were able to enjoy
some delightful tourism
From Melbourne & the South
through much of the East
coast up to Northampton
in Queensland & out to
Heron Island part of the
Great Berrier Reef it was
all a fantastic adventure
This shot was taken at the
Lone Pine Sanctuary just
outside Brisbaine
My 1st 3 trips only saw
Airports Hotels & Arenas
& Theaters with no time
for anything else like
so many of us in show
business who don't get
to enjoy so many places
we've been & gone
Across the harbor from Sydney
is my favorite Zoo in the
world (& I've been to 100s)
Taronga is situated on the
tremendous hillside facing
the water & the Sydney coast
My wife & I look forward
to getting back for another
similar trip
