The lift viewing stations have been around for a long time and I have yet to see one with a cop up in the air. I don't know if they have cameras raised aloft for ground viewing. As a way to watch the public it seems to be one of the dumbest choices. The cop at the top can't get down to help and makes a great sitting duck in case of trouble.

Shortly after 9-11 the police department
had many of these hydraulic scissor lift
observation towers built as trailers for
utilization in any required situation
More recently thousands of
security video cameras dot
the entire landscape which
cuts into the tower's use

They did get created as a result of 9-11
as I mentioned above & I have seen many
officers in residence but I have wondered
about the sanitary facilities if any
The operators can control from the cabin
so except for any equipment failure they
are not captives imprisoned above
In case of hoodlums on the ground
I'd prefer to be aloft as long as
the cabin's floor was reinforced
& I had a bucket
