Just after this happened, I called my late friend, opera singer John Mack Ousley, to see if he was all right. He lived in the upper West 60s, and had not yet heard. He was to have lunch at the Towers that afternoon with producers of a new opera. He called me later so stricken his powerful Julliard-trained voice was barely audible.
