Kenny Dodd may be the only one who knows the name of Beatty's Basinji dog. The dog got loose one day and with the whole show looking for him, he was never returned.
The African Basinji is almost "silent". They make a noise that doesn't really qualify as a bark. This breed stars in the coming-of-age tear-jerker film, GOOD-BYE, MY LADY, co-starring Walter Brennan, Brandon DeWilde, Phil Harris, and "Lady".

I have this photo from a Robert D. Good slide.
I seem to recall a story that
Beatty felt this was the only
breed that showed no fear
I'll ask Kenny if he remembers
