A long-time Beatty show insider, quite popular around here, told me the Digger Pugh girls hated the guy. Their contracts called for $85 a week, and Digger took out $50 for himself as agent's commission. Now, who could have told me that...?
By way of comparison, in the California film industry, talent agents by law can receive only 10% of the client's contract fee. Talent "managers", on the other hand, can demand 15% to 25%, beyond the agent's fee, or legally, whatever p/c they can squeeze from a client.

Artist Tommy Coopers wife Pat, when she was a Digger Pugh girl on the Beatty show.
The Beatty letterhead taped
on the truck door would show
the current running order

Not quite as bad as the Iron Curtain
countries' performers in early years
Their mere pittance of a salary gave
all of them a great incentive to find
other income wherever & however they
could (use your imagination)
