It was long a daydream of mine to live in a parked rail car. Except I'd want a whole palace car, and not some chopped up piece of apartment in one, like some arrangements we can name.

I had a similar dream for the

years that the Hickory Creek

was left to rot away on the

siding just South of Venice

Station after it was yanked

off the Blue Train but even

if I could have wangled it

there was no place to put it

After Art Concello bought the

old Wyerhauser property with

a dead end siding for his cars

that had been on airport track

for many years rent free the

line that ended at Wyerhauser

was torn up so no escape nor

access for "my" Hickory Cteek

At the end Art's 3 cars were

broken up & trucked away as

scrap with little scrap value

At least the "Creek" has been

restored beautifully by a NJ

rail club & is available for

rentals as "Private Varnish"

"The Sandy Creek" was the nearly

identical sister to the Hickory

as they were the ass end lounge

cars on the 2 sets of New York

Central's 20th Century Limited

Norfolk Southern Railroad has

done a terrific restoration in

it's own livery colors & keeps

it for their special useage

I see it parked in Washington's

Union Station from time to time

(They remain highly profitable)
