Sells Floto Peru

Sells-Floto came into the Corporation Shows fold, and in 1938 last toured in the combined Al. G. Barnes-Sells Floto Circus. We all know when RBB folded in Scranton that year, their top acts were sent to this title. Long story, and a longer title, often re-told. Mabel Stark had her largest act over there. She came out of Baldwin Park winterquarters with 22 mixed lions and tigers. Brief clips of this act are on YouTube. 1938 proved the ruin of many titles, and neither Barnes nor Sells-Floto toured again as circuses. Both remained Corporation titles, owned then by Ringling. Sells-Floto as a name is kept active as a concessions enterprise.

When the disastrous season of '38 ended, Louis Goebel brought Mabel Stark out to his Compound, in Thousand Oaks, California, where she worked for her last 30 years.
