I'm looking for more information on Ruth/Linco for a documentary I'm doing for regional PBS. She was sold in July 1944 to Bailey Bros. circus and used in shows for rest of season. She died in December at winter quarters in Brady Lake, Ohio. Have you any idea what she died of? Mayor of Lafayette, Indiana -- which apparently owned her -- said in 1944 she was blind in one eye and had become unmanageable. Any idea if that was true? Seems she was replaced in Bob Stevens' show by Modoc, Empress and Judy. Would that be right? Thanks for any help. Fred Endres (fendres@kent.edu)

In 1928 the main Animal House was constructed & it is still standing today
One of the first inhabitants of the Animal House was "Linco" the elephant
She was purchased from the Hagenbeck-Wallace Circus in Peru Indiana
Nearly 10,000 school children in Lafayette raised more than $2,000
