This horse is Philadelphia Toboggan Company carousel #6 which was built in 1905 and which first operated in Elitch Gardens in Denver, Colorado. It is now operating at Kit Carson County Fairgrounds in Burlington, Colorado. This carousel was designated a National Historical Landmark in 1987. Here is some trivia about PTC #6: It is a 3 row carousel and carries 46 figures, all of which are stationary. It rotates at 12 mph and is the fastest of any of the PTC carousels, most of which rotate at 8 mph. It is the only PTC carousel that still has it original factory paint on both its animals and its scenery panels.
