This was the first circus born giraffe but not the first in USA. That occurred in 1889 at the Cincinnati Zoo.

The poster has the wrong birth date. It was Jan 14, 1910,not Jan 12th.

The name of the calf was never "Bumbeno". No, it was Jenny. And she was put on loan to the Bronx zoo by RBBB in 1920.There she was impregnated and delivered to Hagenbeck Wallace in 1933. She gave birth at Peru WQ on Jan 17, 1934. See the comment to the H-W poster above.

I should add that the mother was named Mary and was imported for B&B around 1903-04
