The year escapes me, but at their concert @ Trinity U., after the show, Peter Yarrow and Paul Stookey came back out and hugged everyone in the audience--literally. They didn't miss a single fan. Mary Travers did not re-appear, and her partners quietly deflected questions about why.
I'm not at all surprised Peter is the kind of guy to work an outreach program like this.

Reminds me of a Peter Paul & Mary tune
I saw them in person at Trinity U., in San Antonio, and remember how they sang...
"If I had a hammer,
I'd find me a tent stake."
That must have been a later lyric
I handled their lighting for part
of a hootenany tour they did very
early in the 60s for several weeks
The company name was Trio Concerts
Some of the nicest folks to work for
I see Peter Yarrow now & then in NY
He has attended our Friday night in
Chinatown gathering a few times
He spearheds a youth outreach music
program for underprivileged kids
Looks more like a timber framer's hammer for driving pegs into timbers.
Would also work well
smashing watermelons
