At one low point, Emmett Kelly booked he and his wife on Gentry Bros. He was appalled when he arrived, describing the Big Top "as ugly and patched" a piece of canvas as he had ever seen. Long after reading his book, CLOWN, I found a photo of that show, and it looked worse than this one.

I would not have known whose it was. There is colorful history on both Big Bob and Little Bob, tall grass showmen with the best of them.
