Gloria and Dottie Lamour were the favorites in the backyard, and blended very naturally with the showfolks. Betty was taken by her movie star status, and held herself aloof.
Gloria later said the close-ups involved a prop elephant foot which Hollywood magic cut in to make the sequence look very real indeed. Lyle Bettger was perfect as Klaus.
My favorite moment comes when Brad commands, "Arky! Take over!" Arky told me great stories of his 6 months on the picture. He was RB's Elephant Boss then.
My Beatty show friend, Tommy Napoli, set down his trumpet and retired to Southern California. He came out to Thousand Oaks to visit, and by then had become a mail carrier. Gloria Grahame lived on his route. Tommy said that most of the film folk had their maid collect the mail, but Ms. Grahame always came to the door herself, and was as stunning as she was on film, and an absolute delight to meet and talk to.

If you can't recite the dialog
that goes with this photo then
you better check with a fan or
some other circus afflicted
Minyak, is your foot getting tired?
I have heard the people on the show really liked Gloria Grahame. Betty Hutton, not at all.
Hope you don't expect a gold star Gary
Perhaps a cheap cigar
