This was an early design by William "Cap" Curtis. Buckles told us previously of its problems. As the motor turned this horizontal spool, 4 to 6 horses stood abreast to drag the canvas over unforgiving lots. The damage was so quickly suffered, the concept was abandoned. Never discouraged, Cap persevered, and from his drawing board arose labor-saving equipment adapted industry wide. The practicality of his stake drivers and seat wagons rivaled Art Concello's, and the two smiled at their friendly but determined rivalry.
