In the mid-'80s, I drove some friends from Texas to Greeley, Colorado, to bury their daughter. On the return, they wanted to visit family in Denver, and I made a side trip looking for anything of the Bonfils and Tammen location for their Sells-Floto years. Those in the general area knew nothing of a circus having been there, and nothing at all was left to be seen.

I found the same story to be true of Deming, New Mexico. By my first visit there, in 1974, no one, even the librarians, knew a circus had wintered there for 3 years. On my last time there, in 2003, I found 2 great Mexican food places, but the locals had no memory whatever of the Clyde Beatty Circus.
