Bandsman Charlie Stevenson once showed me a program from a Winter concert in Sarasota. When Merle Evans had the band, there was some arrangement with the city of Sarasota for the RBBB band to give concerts in the park. I don't recall if it was paid work, but Charlie said it was a way for the band to keep its chops off during the lay-over.
