As members of the S.D. Zoo, we’ve taken some of the “behind the scenes” tours where we got to meet some of the keepers. From them we learned that Koalas are neither affectionate or cuddly. Unless they have been specially conditioned to be handled, getting up close to a Koala is a good way to have your face ripped open.

They also sleep most of the time when the public sees them.
