Unbelievable! Years ago Carlos & Susanna Svenson had one on RBBB. Susanna rode it out of a giant egg, but nothing like this.

At Jungleland, we had the contract with LET'S MAKE A DEAL to provide live animals for gag gifts, usually found behind Door Number 3. The show was still at NBC in Burbank then, not that far from Thousand Oaks. Chuck Hayes and I were assigned to take an ostrich down for them. Our co-star that night was a mature male, dangerously powerful. Thankfully, Chuck had the experience to hood the bird, so once he couldn't see, our handling of him was safer--we thought. Once up NBC's back ramp, the blindfolded ostrich decided to make a break for it, and drug Chuck and I down the long corridor behind the studios. The HOLLYWOOD SQUARES cast was jackpotting back there, and when we came by, the ostrich knocked Phyllis Diller down in an ungainly sprawl. Paul Lynde laughed so hard at her it made her mad. She yelled, "Damn you, Paul! Don't help a lady up or nothing!" It did not help when he said, "I'm sorry. I couldn't tell which was the ostrich and which was Phyllis."

We did the show and were loading the ostrich when Diller came down the ramp. I still don't know if she was cursing Chuck and I or the ostrich.
