The old "Billboard" Magazine (no longer around) was considered the "Bible" for Show Folks. Meaning that almost anything you were looking for could be found within the pages pertaining to show business. Ads for employment on circuses, carnivals, other traveling shows, routes, night clubs and etc. At one time on any given week, you could find maybe 10 or 12 High Acts that were available for Fairs, Celebrations, Festivals, etc. As mentioned before, sometimes they were booked on a Carnival Midway to help hold the crowds. Sometimes they were the feature act for a Grandstand Show at large and medium size Fairs. Sadly, very few of these High Acts remain......They were and are extremely dangerous and exciting to watch....Ankle drops and etc at a great height without any safety devices.
