When I was there in the winters of 1980, and '81-'82, the structures @ Upper R and Far R were long gone. The 1947 (former) Sparks show office wagon sat out exposed to the Florida climate, as did many King and Sells & Gray trucks in the graveyard inside that curve. Hoover's cats had an awning, but the former cat barn was not restored, and the arena was fully outdoors. It was light years ahead of what Hoxie had, but was very much indeed a typical circus winterquarters--functional to some extent, but never a showplace.

The building in lower right
was the Atlantic Coast Line
station & is currently used
by Amtrak which I see every
time I do the "Silver Star"
either North or South a few
times each year to break up
flying to or from NY or DC
Except for a time after
the last big storm when
much of the tree line
was defoliated I only
get a glance at CBC WQ
Originally a County Fairgrounds
Then it became Johnny J Jones WQ
before the Acme Circus Operating
Company bought the joint

When I left the show, in the pre-season Spring of '82, I walked across the tracks to catch a Sarasota-bound train in this historic old depot.
