When I ran a D-6 Cat dozer, it had cleat pads for field work. Some lots might have been better negotiated with them, but getting to the lots normally meant using city streets, which cleats would tear up. Most cities with paved thorofares woke up to this and demanded the tracks be fitted with the street pads, seen here.
