My late friend from the bigger Castle dates, The Great Bruno, explained in detail how sway poles are made. He said various diameters of Shelby tubing, with carefully selected wall thicknesses, are pressed at graduated lengths inside one another by specialized equipment in a machine shop. This fitting is exquisite, and as Bruno made a point of saying, is best engineered by skilled circus people who have mastered such rare demands. He explained these poles, correctly formed, allow for seemingly impossible sway in the relative safety of the skill of the performer.

This is fine, pressed tubing and all, I'm not going up on one of those damn things.
