Mr. Barnes at the reins, in his Circus City Winterquarters, in Venice, California. Behind him are big cat cages that other photos show to look like a block long. They were doubled up, with another string on the other side, housing his immense collection of performers. The cage strings we had at Jungleland were very close to this concept, but were single-row structures.

Barnes had a great place there until Venice developers prevailed upon the city fathers to zone him out, much as was done with Clyde Beatty in Fort Lauderdale many years later.

Thank you, PAUL. It's been on my mind, but first things first, and this meant getting the Mabel Stark film bio to Fade Out one more time. Stay tuned.
