She was the first to be nicknamed the "Blonde Bombshell", and was also called the "Platinum Blonde" and the "Laughing Vamp". She poses here at MGM, where she starred 6 times with Clark Gable, and saw her popularity outshine that of Joan Crawford and Norma Shearer. She died in 1937, at age 26, of cerebral edema and uremia. It is untrue that her Christian Science mother denied Jean medical attention. She had extensive diagnoses, and intensive treatment, but her symptoms continued from childhood scarlet fever, and her final illness could not be overcome.
