Roland Raffler asked me who was the Beatty show elephant man on this picture whom the elephant dunked in a water tank. Kenny Dodd verified it was Benny White.
Doris turned 96 in April. It was her son, Terry Melcher, who turned down Charlie Manson for a record contract. Manson had been to his home to audition his very bad songs and guitar playing. Melcher moved away, and it was at this home, at 10050 N. Cielo Drive, then occupied by Roman Polanski and Sharon Tate, that the Manson gang came for revenge on Terry, and wound up killing the five people home at the time. The date was August 9, 1969, and all of us in Southern California were gripped with fear. That actual structure has been torn down, and the land reconfigured. Another home exists on that property with a change of street number. I've been up there, and can testify to the chills that came from just looking onto the place where this happened.

Wonderful Jimmy Durante, starring in JUMBO.
Jimmy Durante as Linon, the tramp clown bounding rope act.
No Jim it was Linon as Durante
As shown in next image
He portrayed Anthony "Pop" Wonder
who owned & operated "Wonder Circus"
His daughter was Doris Day who
sang my favorite song from the film
"Little Girl Blue"
Many performers that we know
(or knew) were in the cast
Corky Cristiani doubled for Doris Day for the bareback riding sequences....
Kenny Dodd knows all the details
I'll check with him later today
Linon was a favorite with Ed Sullivan.

Chic, It is a Shame Doris turned AR! :(
I wasn't aware she was still alive
I don't follow celebrity politics
unless it knocks on my door
