I have read that while filming the "Tarzan"movies that only Indian Elephants were used....being more docile as opposed to the African elephants. Since Tarzan was supposed to be in Africa....I read that the "PROP DEPARTMENT" made huge floppy ears to attach to the Indian Elephants Ears. As a youngster, you didn't give this much thought. Having said that, looking at Tarzan movies many years later....the ears do seem to be a crude attachment. Does anyone have any info on this movie magic they would care to share? "'
I think this photo could be of the bull, Bong Su, that unfortunately passed away this year at Melbourne zoo. He was wild caught from Malaysia and had been at the zoo since the late 70's. He was 40+ years old. He had sired 3.1 calves. Thanks for keeping up the blog. Still being enjoyed down under. Happy new year.
