The pole separates the tall ones but the shorties can wander at will
The uneven spots make our giraffe a Masai. The zebras bear the shadow stripes of the Burchell's subspecies. Richard Reynolds knows this, but I had to go look it up. So did you.
On 2nd glance it appears both giraffe are outside the pole Perhaps it's meant to keep them out in the public view I believe I was told there are 5 subspecies with various markings & coloring
