Brand new on the market is FEUDING FAN DANCERS, the history of Sally Rand (or Helen Gould Beck) and Faith Bacon, by Leslie Zemeckis. The book premiered on October 1, and Leslie is on an extended book signing tour, with the route on her Facebook page. The book is in leading bookstores and available already on Amazon. Leslie also gave us both the book and award-winning film on Daisy and Violet Hilton, BOUND BY FLESH. A following award-winner, both in print and on film is her respected history of burlesque, BEHIND THE BURLY Q. Next, from Ms. Zemeckis, came the biography of Lili St. Cyr, GODDESS OF LOVE INCARNATE. While we're at it, don't forget Leslie's welcome telling on film of the story of my mentor, Mabel Stark--MABEL, MABEL, TIGER TRAINER. This documentary features Trudy Strong, Patricia White, and Yours Truly, and so far has won 6 Best Documentary awards, and 2 Best Directors for Ms. Zemeckis, on the film festival circuit. Her current book on Ms. Rand and Ms. Bacon is compelling reading for the glory days of the American showgirls.

Saw Sally Rand as a feature on the Raynell Show (Cetlin & WIlson Railroad Carnival produced by Raynell Golden.....a top notch girl show producer. She had produced shows on Royal American before moving over to Cetlin & Wilson. Sally Rand was in her mid to late fifties when I saw her....She had the body of a 25 year old, long blonde hair and they threw the blue spot light on her to help soften any aging lines. She packed them in at $1.00 a ticket at every show....For the Finale' she came out wearing a black lingerie wrap around and said "I would like to thank all my old friends for coming tonight....and for those of you who didn't.....better luck next year". For the time period that was considered raunchy......
