I only had the pleasure of working with Bobby for part of the 1978 season. I remember his telling a story about a toy gorilla pitch fondly. Some years later, a show he was working on played St. Paul. My wife and I went and after the show I went to him and reintroduced myself from working with him in 1978. (This was about 10 year later. Bobby was kind enough to pretend that he remembered me.
At any rate, I remember he and Rosa fondly. I went into the library business later in my life, and I remember writing a review of a book by one of the Wallendas, in which I wrote about what a ranconteur he was. I recieved a note form someone who read the book who agreed.
Bobby and Rosa were always kind to me, a first of May, and I will never forget it.
THAT BOOK IS CALLED " THE CIRCUS AT THE EDGE OF THE EARTH " BY CHARLES WILKINS . HE RODE WITH BOBBY AND GOT A LOT THINGS TO WRITE ABOUT ! HE IS ON THE COVER OF THE BOOK WITH 2 ELEPHANTS.
There will never be another circus man like the one Buckles named "Mr. Information". He knew everything there was to know about every circus working, and no one could count the stories he could tell about them.
