I caught Kathy Rigby in the role, at the grand old Majestic Theatre, in San Antonio. I think CHIC returns there in October, with WIZARD.
I'll tell you who else did an indelible Annie, and New York was totally knocked over by her--Ms. Reba McIntire. She went in on a limited run, and rocked 'em big time. Check her feature songs from the show on YouTube.
One song in the show, pits Annie against Frank Butler, claiming "Anything you can do, I can do better!" Annie and Frank shared a very long and devoted marriage.

After Bernadette played the role
for an extended period of time
they brought in Susan Lucci for
a very short (dreadful) stay
That made it a welcomed change
for Reba who did a fantastic job
& kept it a hot ticket show
I hand made every prop rifle used
I also designed & created a trap
rig that didn't require guy lines
It flew in through a mounted frame
that was stabile & allowed serious
swinging for the dancers doubling
for "Annie to do a complex routine
I taught 7 young ladies that had
never been on a trapeze to build a
strong arc so they could drop to a
knee hang & with prop revolvers in
a double holster shoot the balloons
at the edge of the revolving turntable
The balloons were illuminated through
stubs of fiber optic plastic placed
in holes above a light unit that also
had a mechanical balloon burst device
The "gun shots" were rim shots by the
drummer Cubby O'Brien from Mickey Mouse
Club fame who was in the onstage band
We all had the best time
Yup Roger I'll be there in October
with "WICKED" (not Wizard)
This October 30th will be the 15th
anniversary of our Broadway opening
If it weren't for dumb luck
I'd have no luck at all
