When Patricia White left Japan's Circus Kinoshita to break the first all-white lion act for Boswell, in Kwazulu-Natal, South Africa, she was met with immediate disappointment. Two lions were somewhat white, but the other 4 or 5 were scruffy regulars, and they all showed signs of being ill-kept. Her personal living conditions were unacceptable, and all her native assistants were dying of AIDS. There would be no white lion act, and she left in a rather short time. What happened to the Boswell circus operation, someone else will have to say.
