Three of the Atayde brothers

They had Mexico's largest

circus for generations that

closed down a few years back

Another sad loss to us all

The show played an extended

Christmas engagement where

many of our performers from

the states were employed

Johnny Herriott who shows

up a few times today was

involved many years there

Turtle Benson told me a story about visiting Atayde Hermanos in Mexico, and for the first class seats, a tuxedo clad chimp would take the ladies' arm and lead her to her seat. One of the camera men would take her photo with the chimp and sell it to her at intermission.

True? I dunno. But it makes a nice story.
