Hubert Castle was Hal Silvers during the Depression, for a reason. You had to know Hubert to witness his extreme prejudices. I saw them first hand. Among his hatreds were Jews, but he took on the Jewish-sounding name of Silvers, hinting to the Jewish booking agents that his name could be Silverstein. He hated the Jewish agents and hated the name, but in the hard Depression seasons, he used it to get booked every week. Hubert,as I knew him, told me he left Mix in a backyard dispute, which is no surprise, as he was violent and fast with his fists. It's easy to think another wire walker filled the spot, and the show cross-lined Hal for Don.
The man's name, incidentally, was James Albert Hal Smith (no kin), out of Enid Oklahoma.

Any relation to "Hal Silvers"
The lettering is obviously
rehashed (& not very well)
