One caption I still question--a little--claims the lady is Lillian Leitzel. My hesitation is that her smile doesn't fit other photos.
OK, folks, here we go: My late historian friend, Leonard Farley, called her "LAYT-zel", and I've fluctuated between that one and "LITE-zel", while some insist it's "LEET-zel". Now--my college German prof would argue that since the "I" comes after the "E" in Leitzel, that the "I" would prevail, giving us "LITE-zel". But Lil wasn't German, so cast your ballots as you will.
And, once again, while we're at it, the man's name was BAY-tee, not Bee-tee--ask the family in Ohio.
