It happened during the first show of a four show day. 11am performance. It was just awful. Elvin was a great performer and had such class. It was our third visit to HK. The first two visits were great but on this occasion it was a disaster. Business was terrible, and being booked into a city for almost two months with no business is no fun. Loads of things went wrong. Mark Lotz (not sure of the name but he came in after Elvin’s accident), ended up breaking his foot while dismounting from the solo trap. Mark David also fell from the solo trap but I’m not sure that was in HK. We toured the Far East for over three years, but that last visit to HK was terrible.

This "World's Largest Cannon"
was built in South Africa &
sent directly to Hong Kong
for it's premier engagemant
It returned in a very poor
condition that required much
reworking & painting as shown
here on the front forty of
the Bale Family farm in Venice
I was there in Hong Kong that fateful morning when Elvin overshot the air bag. In fact he landed 2m in front of me. A very sad day.
Graham
You may recall Graham that it was
intended for me to be there also
Long story about my not going
Nita called me right away to tell
me that he might not make it
I visited him as soon as he got
back to England (Gipsy Hill)
