Elvin Bale had wanted a cannon

for several years but kept being

turned down by Irvin until when

Alvin's "Schwartzie" kid turned

over his second performer's bus

(but before he wrecked another

show owned straight job) Irvin

agreed to the use of the second

wrecked bus chasis to become

a Space Shuttle version cannon

I had much involvement

in this project although

I never thought much of

the open track boom style

I felt it gave away much

The rig had an hydraulic

front center wheel that

would be lowered enough

to lift the front wheels

off the ground to allow

quick & easy allignment

to the net

This "cannon" of sorts

worked many years without

any incidents both on

the Blue Show & then on

the Monte Carlo Tour

Cannon #14 shown below

is that very same unit

many years later with

it's track boom covered

in a cylindrical shell

No idea where it might

be but would be a good

distraction in current

demolition truck derby

that helps to keep the

Sells Floto Fund strong

Elvins rocket shared a tunnel car with Jewell News Lions..Didn't hit my head like I did with Charlies Tigers in the car/bus carrying car...

Those 2 track extensions

were for the overtravel

of the "Space Shuttle"

at the launch position
