Eddie Ward, Jr. doubled Gina's flying, wearing drag that had her screaming, "But hee's so-oo OOG-lee!" Mercifully, director Carol Reed set his cameras far back in the high seats for long shots that barely were.
Part? He did the flying for Tony Curtis, and got screen credit reading, "Fay Alexander...Technical Adviser--Flying Sequences". A speaking part, no, but he got a letter from Burt Lancaster, reading in part, "Whatever success we have for this film, we owe it to you." Burt had been a circus man, and knew how to appreciate the one flyer at the time who could make the picture work.
While we're at it, Willie Krause doubled Burt Lancaster in the catch trap. Burt was seen up there, but Willie caught Fay Alexander, who flew for Tony Curtis's Tino Orsini.

That's Gina Lolabrigida in TRApeze. The scene is the Cirque d'hiver in Paris

Just curious...Did Fay Alexander have any part in this movie?
