Very possible. I believe this is a South African word.
The RBBB sign at Winter Quarters read "Elephant Nursery" The building looked much like the one shown here.
An Elephant Kraal is seen in India and a few other countries in Asia. It is usually a horizontal pole structure with the ability to move at least one side of the wall in toward a elephant for touching and training the recently captured elephant. Then moving the wall or walls out as the elephant becomes accustomed to humans touching, talking, feeding and watering the elephant. The floor is slotted so the feces and urine can fall through onto a hard surface and be removed safely. And the ones I've seen in use have a roof over it to protect the elephant from the elements (Sun and rain).
In Sarasota the "Elephant Nursery" was built in 1955 to house all those punks. The main elephant kraal was called the Gajasala. I took movies there in 1955.
