Cats have a great sense of balance
Jules Jacot had a lioness that roll a ball without a track in his show at the St Louis Zoo in the 1950s. Wade Burck and others have suggested if the surface is smooth and level it's not that much of step up from a ball with a track. I had sea lions rolling globes without out tracks. They were started on a barrel, the step-up to a free globe wasn't the challenge I thought it might be.
Jim alexander would you perhaps have any photos of your sea lions roll on their globes?
