Tarzan black rhino Mary in Hollywood for the filming of "Tarzan and His Mate". She is overburdened here with three riders. During 1934 she went on tour ahead of he movie, being displayed in a cage-truck outside the theaters.
She was sold to RBBB at the end of 1934. They tried to deliver her in Memphis but the cage they tried was not strong enough. So, she was taken to Sarasota quarters. She started the '35 season but was killed in New England by a disgruntled keeper. What a shame. Gumpertz could have used her in the '35 performance, but either did not want to try or didn't think about it. Roman Schmitt had his black rhino perform in the ring. So, it can be done.
