#12 Windjammers!

I saw the show this year.
They managed to dismount the band from the Bandstand, adorn Mr. Evans in this cloak then march them into the Center Ring, stand on the Ring Curb and play as the Performers took their final Salute.

Windjammers!! Great tribute to these unsung heros of the circus business. Way back some of the bands played a concert before the show as well as did parade and the show. They literally played all day.

Russ Darr told me playing a show on his trumpet was akin to ditch digging 9 hours a day in hard ground. He further told me one of Stan Kenton's extensive arrangements once put 8 brass section men in the hospital on the same night. They literally busted their guts trying to work that score. So we learn to spare a thought for the band guys and gals.
