Hudson's Bay wool coat
that more commonly has
bands of color on white
I never saw Ziggy. But when the tour guides gave their spiel they would say he had been over ten feet tall. However the keepers that cared for him said he did not have to duck to walk through those doors. Those doors are exactly nine feet tall.
When I first saw Ziggy at Brookfield in 1960, he looked just like this. I had never seen such tusks on an elephant. At the time he was kept in this indoor pen in the pachyderm house and was never allowed outside - -not since he had nearly killed Slim Lewis in the outdoor pen in 1941.
