Vintage Samantha Stevens... I loved "Bewitched". I don't think I missed a single episode when I was growing up. It's strange; 50 years later when I watch reruns now, it's so clear poor forgetful Aunt Clara- one of my favorite characters- suffered from the early stages of Alzheimers. Didn't see it that way back then. Funny how time changes one's perspective.
Really great cast.

Over the many years that show

ran the incredible list of guest

stars included many from stage

& screen such as Parley Baer

& Raquel Welch & my favorite

Agnes Moorehead

Marion Lorne made a career of playing the befuddled. She was a master at it, but it was her best character acting at hand, not in her case an illness.

Oh yes Roger, of course, I meant the Aunt Clara character had 'challenges', not Marion Lorne. I remember the first dramatic role I saw Elizabeth Montgomery do; it was the Lizzie Borden story. She was just outstanding. Does anyone else think she was one of many underrated actors in Hollywood? She could have handled so many demanding roles. Kind of like Angelica Huston, who so easily steps from drama to comedy. Or Bette Midler. Or Carol Burnett. Or Meryl Streep. Or... fill in the blank!

I should have said 'under appreciated' rather than 'underrated'. I'll add another drama/comedy chameleon: Laurie Metcalf, of stage and tv. I wonder why she didn't do movies? Sorry Buckles, I know this is a circus blog! Good heavens. Hope I'm not having an Aunt Clara moment...
