Perhaps Chipperfield is not holding the hoop inappropriately. Perhaps if this was a video we could see her sweep the hoop along the length of the tiger, thus letting the cat make a normal leap seat to seat. Perhaps.
It is in error not to know where your hand-held hoop is for the leap. This one is snagged behind the eyes and in front of the ears. Presenting any impediment for the animal's performance serves to confuse his training. You've brought him this far, and he's doing it, so keep yourself attentive to maintaining the level you've achieved.

Some needs to train the trainer. Making it hard for your animal to clear his jump is a quick way to wear the animal.
Roger, you confirmed my thought. She was making it quite challenging for the tiger unless it was aiming for a low pedestal (don't think so.)
