Harold Alzana, Gene Mendez, the Gretonas, and the Wallendas worked their wires at 40 feet. This cut-down wire rigging back there, shortened in length, with a drop in altitude, lost the edge of fascinated thrill that made the names of the real wire acts. Worse, I saw this act work using mechanics.
