What a hoot to see my old boss, Hubert Castle, born James Albert Hal Smith, billed with his former stage name of Hal Silvers, and called Spanish. During the Depression, he wanted the Jewish booking agents to think his name was Silverstein, so they'd favor him with constant work--which they did. The images of the performer in the poster @ L, are clearly worked up from photos we've all seen of Con Colleano.
