A short-lived Bird and Reptile show at the St. Louis Zoo in August 1968. Floyd Smith's lead elephant, Alice, was ill and the Elephant Show was down.
Jambo,
You don't see a lot of King Vultures used in Raptor/Bird of Prey show's. Why is that? They are sure a beautiful bird. Is their nature/temperament/train ability difficult or much different from other similar species?
Best wishes from China,

Wade, I was waiting for a comment from you. I figured it would be about all the empty seats and the few bored customers (and half of them would leave before the show was over.) It wasn't much of a presentation, just a shady spot to sit down was the main draw. We just gathered some available animals and put a show together that looked like we spent about three days on it. The King Vulture didn't do much but it was cooperative sitting on a glove. Don't know why they aren't used more in shows. They've been bred in zoos and they look good.
