I've told the story on the Blog several times about this elephant. In 1982 while visiting the Ringling Show I was asked if I wanted a free elephant and being within my price range readily accepted. Turned out to be "Eva" originally trained in Baraboo by John Herriott. I immediately changed her name to "Peggy" after my wife's Sister. |

Before Baraboo Eva was at Children's Zoo at the St. Louis Zoo. Her name then may have been Pearl or the name of zoo trainer Floyd Smith's wife's sister.
She was the first elephant I rode when I started working at RBBBC in '77. I rode her in "Spec". I never imagined she would be in my family years later. Buckles, is she still alive? At Scott's?
Yes as far as we know. Hi Dar. How are you doing?........Barbara.......
I heard somewhere that Amy was moved to a zoo. Was there any truth to that rumor? I wonder if she has had any more calves. Anna May's grave site is beautiful.
I love the pic of you and Toto with the one leg stand. I can hear you as if it were yesterday.
I am doing alright Munzie, thanks for asking.
