CHS August Letter

 July 23rd, 2016 was a big circus day. The Jan and John Zweifel auction of circus memorabilia took place through Potter and Potter auctioneers. The great Circus Parade occurred in Baraboo, WI. and another great Circus Parade occurred in Peru, IN.

I was blessed with a chance to give this wagon a thorough study when it resided at the downtown circus museum in Peru. Clyde Beatty's daughter, Joyce Lee Ferguson, was running things then, and opened all the extra doors. When Jacobs was on the 1939 Ringling show, this arena was expanded to 50-feet diameter. This also meant the ring curb was enlarged. I've never seen the arena. In the '60s, I was told it belonged to the Emerson family back East, and would never be available for sale. I pray whoever has it now, is sufficiently respectful to delay its return to nature.
